Success Stories

Christmas Greetings from Henry

From Henry, now residing with Mrs Betty Price in Whitchurch Grove, Newcastle under Lyme.

Just to let you know I've really settled in here, getting plenty of exercise, plenty of fuss, and I'm managing to train my new owner to do the various things I think I deserve. (I think I'll keep her!!). Hope everyone there is well and have a wonderfull Christmas. Hopefully, you find a picture attached.

Regards, Henry Price.

I am doing well in my new home and I would like wish everybody at Freshfields Animal Rescue a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, especially my old friend Katrina. I have enclosed a few photographs of myself playing in the snow and lazing around the house grin. xx

Bud’s progress

Bud is a dog that was re-homed from our Welsh resuce but was adopted by people in Liverpool so is learning to speak Scouse !!

Hello everyone,

I thought it about time I gave an update on Bud's progress. He has fitted into our family well, he and Reuben, our older Freshfield dog, get along really well even though they are polar opposites in nature. I have attached a photo of them together. Reuben is our 'guardian'. He is wary of strangers, sits in doorways or halfway up the stairs to keep an eye on anyone approaching the house and generally lets us know if anyone has the temerity to even walk past. Bud loves to sit close and be cuddled. He loves everyone and I think would drag strangers in off the street if allowed.
That love of people and other dogs has got Bud and me into trouble more than once. Gale will know what I mean! Obviously there are dogs and people that do not wish to be approached by a large, golden, bouncy bundle of love. I have to keep Bud on the leash when other dogs are around and I use a halti to stop my arm being pulled from its socket. We go to training class and are working hard on Bud's recall! This will be especially useful when passing large puddles which Bud seems to regard as jacuzzis. Happily, he also seems to enjoy being hosed down!
Bud is a great addition to our family.

Thank you all for the hard work you put in to provide a place of safety for these animals until lucky people like myself get the chance to give them a forever home.

Bobby

Hello Kate and Collette

We just wanted to say thanks for sending the vaccination papers for Bobby.

He's really settled in well and has calmed down a hell of a lot - he's still a mad ball of energy but he can turn it on and off now when he wants to.

He's loving his walks around the local countryside and his nights spent snoring on the sofa whilst we (try) and watch TV.

I've attached a couple of photo's (2 from Saturday when he experienced snow for the first time).

Thanks for all of your help and we hope that you have a great Christmas and New Year.

Kind Regards

Darren, Cath & Bobby

Ben

Ben was found tied up to a fence in Caernarfon, no body came forward to claim him!!

Here is an update on his progress:

I thought that I would give you a further update on Ben.

To summarise - he has settled down really well.

He is no trouble, and he had most of his basic commands already, his knowledge of English has returned and he responds equally quickly.

The best news is that you remember that he had to be lifted into the car as he seemed almost totally terrified of metal containers? Well, by the weekend he was leaping in and out of the car's back seats without any problem. Also,he has got a very healthy appetite, but eats very delicately - main meals or treats - so he is getting a little more food motivated, which should help with more advanced training in the future.

I've attached three smallish images; the outside shot was taken at the start of last week as he entertained us by fetching the red football after lunch.  As you can see from the "roaching" he is now totally relaxed in his new home. The curled image could have been shot on the night we got back to  Northumberland, it is rather soft focus which emphasises how relaxed he was.

As you may have seen from our flickr, Ben has been introduced as the "apprentice" and his first promotion has been to company morale officer. I
shall be posting more images as time passes..... http://www.flickr.com/photos/60884630@N06/sets/72157628026767272/

Thank you again for letting us give Ben his forever home.

Marge !

. Marge came into us in a terrible state, she had to have an eye removed as well as teeth, because of dental problems she often gets a dirty bum so would have to be washed down regularly. We were very lucky to find Anne who already has a deaf and brain damaged bunny to take Marge on and it has worked out perfectly.

We would like to share a recent email we recevied on Marge's progress

Hi all (Especially Lyn!)
here as promised are some pics of Little Marge and Benjamin. They are so in love! Benjamin has picked up within himself so much since Little Marge arrived, I really do believe she has given him a new lease of life. I always wanted him to have a friend of his own kind, and from the minute I saw Marge during an online search, I loved her, and felt so strongly that she was the one. And she most certainly was *The One*.
Seeing them together, a deaf and braindamaged bunny, and a tiny, half blinded, troubled and scarred little bunny so in love and content, is beyond words.
Love isn't blind, love is simply having the gift to see what lies beyond the surface.
These two have that gift.
I have enclosed some photo's for your 'happy endings', I hope you like them. Also enclosed is a little poster type creation that I put together, maybe you can use it?
As always, I continue to thank you for entrusting this most precious, beautiful little rabbit to my care. I simply adore her.
Warmest regards,
Anne x

Zach (previously known as Shrek) - Update

Hello,

Just a few more pictures to let you know that Zach (previously known as Shrek) has settled in fantastically and is loving his new life here with Tess. They love their long walks together, chasing the ball and going for a swim. They then come home and get all the toys out all over the house - they never stop!! Zach even sings along to the radio when his favorite songs come on!!

Ryan is now Owain

Dear Lesley

It's over a month since we picked up Ryan and I thought you might like a progress report.

Mei won't like the fact that we've re-named him Owain. We wanted something to reflect his Welsh origins and it was a little bit like Ryan. He responded to it immediately, so I even wonder if it was his original name.

He's a great little dog and he fits in here beautifully. I've attached a pic of him with Daisy on their sofa in the kitchen. He was obviously very well trained on the farm - he is spectacularly obedient and comes as soon as he is called. He is also very careful never to let us out of his sight - doesn't want to repeat his 'lost' adventure! He is very athletic and we make sure he has a chance to run off some of his abundant energy every day. I've also attached some photos of him with his dayglo bottle which is a great favourite.   He is perpetually hungry and eats very well (both what he's given and what he dredges up out of hedgerows, with predictably awful results) but doesn't put on any weight at all. The vet noted that he's a cross between an Aston Martin and a Harrier jumpjet (see photos...) and he just runs off all those calories. And when he's not running, he's cuddling - very sloppy dog indeed!

Thanks again for letting us take him.

Best wishes

Jane and Barbara

I just wanted to send you some piccys of the three cats that I have adopted from Freshfields Wales.

Kind regards
Katherine
