NewsNew for this Website in 2010 !Friday December 18th 2009 Hello everyone! We now have the ability to upload video clips of our animals in need of new homes to be viewed on our website. The video is uploaded to YouTube initialy but can be viewed directly from our site under the animals detail page! This is great news for us as it will give people the opportunity to view our animals in more relaxed surroundings. All we need now is to find that precious time to shoot the film! Here's hoping for some dry and sunny weather! Christmas Tree CompetitionWednesday December 9th 2009 St Faith's Church in Crosby are holding their annual Christmas tree decorating competition and for the first time Freshfields have an entry. Our tree has been very artistically designed by Shirley and Tracy - two of our Formby shop volunteers. Visitors to the church during the week ending 12th December vote for their favourite and make a donation to the corresponding charity. Why not go along and have a look and of course vote for Freshfields! www.stfaithsgreatcrosby.org.uk Fundraising Success at the Royal Sportsman PorthmadogTuesday December 8th 2009 What a great success our first Christmas fair was at the Royal Sportsman. A total of £846 was raised!
A BIG thanks to all who helped on the stalls and baked cakes for the event and a very big thank you to Louis and Vironica who laid on refreshments and supplied the rooms free of charge.
Fundraising for Survival!Tuesday December 8th 2009 £11k needed weekly to keep the rescue functioning at capacity! As you will see from earlier news articles, there has been a fair amount of vital fundraising activity taking place over the past weeks in the liverpool area. We have printed much of the detail of this on our news pages because we want our volunteers and our supporters to know that we appreciate deeply their commitment and the energy they put into keeping the rescue open! Those of you out there who follow our activities but are unable to take part yourselves also need to be aware of what it takes to keep the rescue centre running. One of my colleagues who initially was very keen to publish the results of her and her teams fundraising activity (see list below) has since expressed concerns about doing this. The reason for this being 'if people see what we've raised, what if they think we are ok and stop giving?' I consider this to be a very valid point (but not one that should stop us celebrating the success that the hard work of individuals has brought us) and think it important that all our supporters, volunteers and the general public alike understnad that their support and fundraising is vital to us and that despite raising a total of £10260.85 over the past few weeks our 'hand to mouth' existence will continue and the regular and one off donations we receive remain crucial to our survivial! Most charities are experiencing a drop in legacy income, the recession means charitable trusts have less to award applicants, indeed our own Christmas appeal has so far netted only approximately 40% of that received last year. It is no exageration to state that the battle to survive is ongoing! Anyway, to go back to the point of this article...yes we have done well to raise £10k over the past few weeks and thank you so much all those who contributed! But please...don't be fooled, this magnificent achievement alone won't be enough to see us through! The regular and one off monetary donations are needed more than ever, every few extra pounds is a step closer to survival! So please...keep on giving, your donations literally can mean the difference between life and death for many animals!!! Allerton Hall served a delicious buffet and the event took place in the most comfortable of surroundings. Allerton Hall is a listed building full of nooks and crannies and oak lined walls. £310 was raised at this event Blundell Street Anne Downes, the owner of Blundell Street, very kindly donated the club, the food and a Michael Jackson tribute act. It was a wonderful, lively evening full of dancing and chatter and we would like to thank Anne and Neil McHale (Michael Jackson) for their hard work and input. We'd also like to thank all the Freshfields supporters who turned up and got into the spirit of it all. It was a fantastic night and we have been invited back at the New Year. This event brought in a a total of £550. Murder Mystery Dinner Theatres We have only run one of our Christmas Murder Mysteries at the Chimneys in Hooton. We have five more to go, please check upcoming events for details.
