Volunteering

Volunteers are our lifeblood

Without the dedication and generosity of the people who donate their time and their energy to the rescues, asking nothing of us in return, Freshfields would not survive.

Whoever you are, whatever your circumstance, if you want to make a difference to the animals in your area then there are ways that you can contribute.

Volunteers are always welcome at the rescues. For hands on work with the animals we prefer it if you can commit to a regular weekly slot, even if it’s just for a half day. Finances allow that we only have the minimum paid staff and that being the case we rely heavily upon our volunteers to help us with the animals care. We need to sure our hands on volunteers won’t let us down without good reason.

Whilst the hands on people help us with animal care it’s the fundraisers (not forgetting those people that make regular donations of food, bedding and money) that help us to pay the ever increasing bills. Without our fundraisers, some of whom work in small groups and others that work alone we just wouldn’t be able to carry on. Freshfields is a community charity and that’s were we need our fundraisers most…out in the community, enhancing Freshfields profile, raising funds and spreading the word about the good work the charity does.

Reception is another area that relies heavily upon the reliability of volunteers. The post of receptionist is one of the most important in the rescue. That person is our first contact with the general public and the one we rely upon to filter important messages through to the relevant units. It takes a very special person to be a Freshfields receptionist, there are often difficult calls to deal with but there are also many generous people out there wanting to help us. It is vital that we answer as many calls as we can.

If you would like to help us…and I promise you there always ways that you can, then please fill in and submit the volunteer form below. (Volunteers must be over 16)
