Special Appeal DogsMaddyMaddy was brought to our front door and left with us as the child in the family was allergic to her. Maddy now lives in our office as kennel life proved too stressful for her. The office is nice and quiet with less hustle and bustle to disturb Maddy. She is very affectionate and loves to curl up next to you given half a chance. Maddy is very clean and always waits till she is walked to go to the toilet. Maddy can get quite stressed, she doesn't like other dogs and she hates cats! On a walk she can occasionally take her frustrations out by biting sticks and trees, however this is not very often. Maddy is a lovely dog but she doesn't like seeing the vet (what dog does!) Staff can advise how to deal with this situation. Overall Maddy is a great dog, typically staffy type, she loves people. Maddy needs an adult only home with no other pets. She would like a kind, calm owner who will let her snuggle up on the couch! She really will make a great friend if given the chance! My name is Maddy and I am now 6 years old. Sadly I was brought to Freshfields Animal Rescue over 2 years ago because my family were allergic to me, and yes 2 years on I am still here because nobody seems to want me. I don't really like kennel life. I find all the commotion, the comings and goings particularly stressful. Its far too noisy for me. I just want a quiet and simple life! I am very affectionate, I would let you tickle my tummy all day long. I am very, very, very clean, I always wait till I go on a walk to go to the toilet. I am good on the lead too, oh except if I see another dog! Did i mention that I don't like other dogs, or cats?! So I need to be the only pet in the house, and need to be walked at quiet times or in quiet places. I would really love it if somebody picked me to be their new daughter. I have been overlooked for so long, its making me very sad! I just need a calm house, with no children (as they are not calm). I think someone with experience of my breed, or rescue dogs would be best. Also I would like to meet my new mum and dad a few times before I am adopted, just to make sure they really like me! Please, please ask the kennel staff about me. I don't want to be here for another year. I just want a mum and dad I can call my own. I promise to love you lots and lots. Love and licks Maddy xxx
Special Appeal CatsSpecial Appeal Small AnimalsTulip and Sweet PeaTulip and Sweet Pea are Albino Dwarf sisters. We have had an ongoing problem with people leaving boxes of albino dwarfs on our door step for some time and we are hoping it has now come to an end. On the 2nd of February 2010 we were called to the door by one of our dog walkers and told that there were boxes of rabbits left by the cars. We immediately went out and collected 2 boxes. One of the boxes had 'The Kids' written on it and the other had 'The mum, The end' written on. We are hoping that this means this is the end of it! We brought them inside and tried to find space to fit them in. We are always full to capacity and it is very difficult when people offload there problems onto us when we do not have the space. There were 4 rabbits altogether 'the mum' or Queenie as we called her was alone in 1 box and there was 3 in the other. This turned out to be 2 girls and 1 boy. We left the 2 girls together and separated the boy as none of them were neutered. On coming into work the next day we were greeted with the surprise of 2 babies born during the night and another 3 a few nights later. The last 3 unfortunately all died but the first 2 survived and can be seen on our website now all grown up. We were surprised that any of the babies survived considering they were under such stress. Since then we have had all of the rabbits neutered and vaccinated and they are all in good health. Also Queenie has been rehomed. Tulip and Sweet Pea are the 2 sisters and the parents of the babies. They are lovely rabbits but very timid. This means that when people come round to look at our pairs of rabbits they immediately run and hide. Because of this people are not interested and dont get to see their personality and potential to be nice family pets. They are also hard to catch as they are very quick but when you have them they will settle. We have had lots of albino dwarfs here before as I have said and all of them have been like this. They have also all come round in a home. All these rabbits require is abit of patience and understanding. We do not know what these rabbits have been through but it cant have been nice if somebody is producing so many and dumping what they dont want. You cant blame them for being timid and not trusting people. These rabbits really do need a home so they can finally have some peace and feel secure so they can truely be themselves. We are looking for a home for Tulip and Sweet Pea with a hutch with a run attached (5ft by 7ft).
