TessWhen her owners relationship broke down, Tess and her brother Blackie were kept outside in a yard in all weathers. They had no shelter, no toys and were fed when the people could be bothered. Tess can be timid to begin with but is bouncy and friendly when she knows you. She hasn’t been socialised well at the crucial time in her life, therefore she is not good with other dogs. A kind, patient, committed owner, who would be willing to follow our behavioural advice, would soon have her on the right track. Again as Tess was unsocialised as a pup she is not used to children, she should really go to a quieter, adult only home with no other pets. A home where someone will have the time to let her settle in at her own pace. Tess really is a beautiful, lovely girl. She has had a poor start in life and really deserves the chance of a loving home. Tess has recently been getting walked by a family who take her to the beach and take her home with her brother Blackie. She is very well behaved in the car. She is very relaxed in the home environment, she has not shown any destructive behaviour and will only move round different rooms in the house if invited to do so. She really loves going out with her family and has developed a strong bond with them. In the past Tess was not very good on the lead as she pulled a lot but she walks really well with when out with the family. It really shows that if someone is prepared to put the time in with Tess she can really improve. The family who take her out now really love her and say she is very affectionate and in the correct home she would make a fantastic addition to the family. A LETTER FROM TESS 28/03/2012 I have now been at Freshfields for 6 years, before that my mum and dad didn't look after me properly, i was very sad, but at least I had Blackie for company! I found rescue life a bit daunting to begin with, but the staff were the first people to ever love me and they look after me very well - they never let me go hungrey like my last home did! I soon settled down here and although I love the people that look after me very much, I would really love a home of my own, a mum and dad that will love me and look after me, like other dogs have. I don't understand why I am still here after 6 years, it makes me think I might be here for ever and I really don't want that... Please, please, please is there anyone out there that would let me be a part of their family??? I promise I will be as good as possible! I know I don't like other dogs, and that can be tricky for some people, but as long as you walk me somewhere quiet I won't cause any problems. I just want a home I can call my own and I promise to love my new family lots and lots! Love and Licks Tess xxx
