Spirit

Meet Spirit, our other gentle giant. Spirit arrived at Freshfields in 2001 and is now around 8/9 years old. Spirit was rescued by staff from an alleyway in Liverpool. He was tied up so tightly, on such a short lead that he had actually started to hang himself. We dread to think what might have happened if we had not got there in time.

Understandably it takes Spirit a long time to trust strangers; he is automatically fearful when meeting new people and uses aggressive behaviour to cover this up. Once Spirit does know you he is extremely loving and one of the most loyal dogs you are ever likely to meet.

Spirit is a firm favourite with all our staff. He is a real sweetheart who will literally throw himself at your feet and roll over so his belly can be rubbed. He adores chasing a ball and loves to be given a bath when he is pampered to the extreme! He is extremely close to his kennel mate, Leon. They share long walks together, cuddle up together on their large kennel sofa and are often caught playing like a pair of pups.

Spirit sometimes needs to go to a vets to have his ears flushed. He is on medication which keeps it under control. Spirit would need a lot of understanding and patience if he were to be rehomed. In the mean time we know he is content at Freshfields.
