Murphy

Murphy was dumped at our front door in poor condition.  He was thin, had a terrible coat and a wound to his foot and tail.  After a short time feeding him up and taking care of him, Murphy is a strapping young lad!  He is the biggest lurcher we have ever seen!  Murphy loves affection and despite his size often attempts to get on our knee for a hug, much to the staff's amusement!  Murphy doesn't like other dogs, but as long as he is walked at quiet times or in quiet areas, this can be easily controlled.  Like most lurchers Murphy doesn't like small animals either, so should be the only pet.  Murphy is a really sweet dog, he has had a hard life, a sad history and we would love to see him happy in a new home.

Murphy is a stunning chap. Very affectionate, very friendly (with people) and very playful. Despite his size he is incredibly easy to walk on the lead and is very responsive. It did take me a short while (and a lot of treats) to build up his trust to the point that we can go for long walks together but once this low hurdle is overcome he’s an absolute joy to be out with.

As is explained, Murphy, for whatever reason, is not good with other dogs. Obviously this is not the most desirable of traits but it is easy to manage. The best method would be avoidance but on the occasions when other dogs have been nearby or have approached, Murphy is very accepting of his muzzle.

In the home Murphy is perfect. He is very clean and only toilets when let out into the garden or on walks. He is friendly and affectionate upon meeting new people and although he enjoys a lot of attention and affection he has proven himself completely trustworthy when left to explore and rest unsupervised. Murphy is a fantastic dog and makes for a cracking good friend.
